I had never heard of Abraham Bogdanove until I went to Monhegan Island, Maine, several years ago. The island is called the "Artists' Island" because of the variety of landscapes in such a small space . There are rugged headlands with crashing waves and quiet scenes of a working village with fish houses and reminders everywhere of artists who have been there. Mr. Bogdanove puts the energy of this island into his paintings with dramatic brush strokes and colors. His paintings of the other parts of Maine are similar but less convincing.The color reproductions are well done and the essay by Jessica Nicoll followed by explanatory notes with each painting are excellent.
Beautiful book in great condition.
Inspiring! Use of light and color is fabulous. A great book to studywith and learn from.
