I got the first book in this series for free (after seeing it promoted on BookBub). My expectations aren’t too high for free Kindle books. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that I really enjoyed Girl Jacked: A Detective Jack Stratton Mystery. I want books to engage me, entertain me, interest me, with characters that I enjoy, maybe romance but not too much blatant sex or too much really foul language, and with decent editing without distracting mistakes. Girl Jacked gave me all of that and more. I enjoyed it so much that as soon as I finished it, I went to Amazon and immediately purchased the 2nd book in the series, Jack Knifed. I rarely actually purchase a Kindle book – so that alone is a top recommendation from me! After I finished the 2nd book, I again immediately went to Amazon and purchased the 3rd book in the series, Jacks Are Wild. After reading some if it, I realized that I was firmly hooked and went back to Amazon and purchased the 4th & 5th books in this series, Jack And The Giant Killer and Data Jack. I am finally disappointed – because I have finished all of these books AND I STILL WANT MORE! I will be anxiously awaiting publication of Christopher Greyson’s next novel – whenever that may be! The books in this series can be read independently, out of order, but I think you will enjoy them the best if you read them in order of publication.
Love the Jack Stratton series. Beginning to wonder if he is ever going to make his mind up about his feelings for Alice. He seems to care for her, in a brotherly way. But he is also aware that she has feelings for him and tries to protect her from any exposure to any of his previous lady friends. I did feel Alice was written a bit badly though. For someone who has a lot of computer knowledge, and has been in the foster care system, she seems pretty naïve about some things. Like how using Jack's police email account could get him into trouble. Otherwise, love the characters and series.
If you haven't fallen in love with Jack and Alice (aka Replacement) yet this one is sure to help fix that. Jack's has gotten on the wrong side of his boss one too many times and finds himself walking a beat, one that takes him past his old girlfriends tattoo shop. When Marisa goes missing Jack finds that he can't help but get involved despite the fact that he knows he will be stepping on more toes.Marisa has a past one that very few people know and of course Jack. Turns out Marisa is related to the biggest mob boss and when bodies start falling and Marisa gets kidnapped Jack finds himself trying to stop an all out war between the Yakuza and the Italian mob, as well as dodge the FBI and his boss.Alice of course involves herself in the case, trying to keep Jack safe and also helping with anything related to computers, but sometimes her shortcuts have unwarranted consequences but she always has Jack's back. In fact she always seems to be saving him from himself and everyone else who is trying their damnedest to kill him. She may be a little thing but she is a strong independent character who has Jack wrapped around her finger.This series continues to surprise me with how fun it is. I love the characters and the growing romance between Jack and Alice. I love their landlord, the nosy woman who was always threatening to evict him before Alice showed up and there is the addition of a new strong female character who works for the Yakuza who I hope to see again in future books.
Jacks are Wild by Chrstopher Greyson was a decent interlude between my non-fiction reading. But, Jack Stratton, the hero, takes forever to get things done and sometimes, never does. In the book he ends up living with three gorgeous women that are physically attracted to him in fact, may even love him.. And they are trying to find another gorgeous women who also is attracted to him and loves him.. They all spend the night in his apartment, then in a sleazy motel and guess what...no sex. Not even a hint. And there was plenty of opportunity. He doesn't even want to see the one women who he was living with naked, nor does he want her to see him naked. Huh? And his boss on the police force hates him but we never know why and never find out what happens after his suspension. But, they find the missing gorgeous women and prevent a gang war. The writing is awkward. It would be good if Greyson were a college student but, awkward. Will I read another Jack Stratton novel? Likely not.
This is a superb read! Jack is such a likable character and this book shows it alittle more. It is filled with action and suspense and gentleness thrown it. I luv this series and highly recommend it anyone that likes action packed books. Read for yourself and see what I mean!
