UbD is an instructional approach worthy of consideration. This is a good introduction to that approach. I purchased this book for coursework; I found the text helpful and a nice addition to my library.
What a great book for teachers !!!!
Understanding by design was recommended to me by one of my teachers. This book helped me understand how to approach lesson planning. Backwards design is an excellent way to design curriculum. The templates are very helpful, and almost mindless even. You just have to know what your goals are, and the templates help you do the rest.I think they should come up with a computer program to make it even easier, but hey, writing is good practice. I rated it four stars, because I haven't found some of the information int he back too helpful- of course I haven't thoroughly read it. I guess it's there for something, but I'm a stickler for not including unnecessary information.
No problems book arrived early.
This workbook has sample lessons in it to guide you in the process. It really helped me get my unit project done.
Awesome templates and long lists of essential questions for every content area you can think of, from History to Dance! However, I did find a shorter, more sucinct book that gets four stars- "Backwards Planning" (with discussion questions).
Ordered to supplement the text that goes with this workbook during MAT degree work. The book was not required for my class but I purchased it to aid in understanding the course work. Very helpful!
This book is great for teachers because it provides information and examples about how to create or design fantastic lessons for your subject. I highly recommend it for others.
