I have tried several of these recipes and in general they are very good! However, beware of the recipes that call for coconut yogurt. I presume the authors tested the recipes with their own homemade yogurt, but if you buy it pre-made from the store (there is only one brand that I know of) it does not work. I had more than one recipe ruined that I had to adjust with trial and error because the coconut yogurt measurement was just too much. You would do best to cut 1/3 of it out if you are buying store-made. One example: the Mother's Scones recipe needed 1/2 cup coconut yogurt, not 3/4 cup as the recipe instructed.

I'm in L.A. and have purchased the cake these women make many times. I pre-ordered this book 4 or 5 months before its release date and was not disappointed. It's a high quality, well written book full of inspiring photos and achievable recipes.I have a rather unpleasant dairy allergy (also celiac, yay). I've only had traditional cake a few times and I was always punished for it, so my experience with gluten and dairy free desserts is extensive. These unbelievably simple cakes are some of the most dynamic, delicious desserts I've had. At $10-$11 a slice they are also one of the more expensive cakes I've ever purchased, but in buying the book I've seen why exactly that is. They use very few high quality ingredients, which I always knew, but what I didn't know is how much of them they use. For example, many recipes call for a few cups of almond butter = $$$.I think these cakes are as close to healthy as something that tastes like a "real cake" can get. They're fluffy, not too sweet, rich and the frosting actually tastes like frosting (*gasp*). If you want a healthier cake or have dietary restrictions this book and trundling through the recipes is absolutely worth it (says a woman who does not like to cook or bake).

I have been baking from this book for a week now and I love it. I am not a baker nor I like baking. Though both my husband and I have a sweet tooth. Since we do not like to stuff ourselves with too much sugar by buying desserts from supermarket/patisseries, I make them at home. The recipes in this book are easy to follow and doesn't require 10 bowls to make a simple cake. All recipes are made without the use of refined sugars and almond flour throughly shines in every recipe. If you are into simple cakes, cookies, and other desserts, this book is a gem.

Sweet Laurel's cookbook is easily the classiest thing in my kitchen right now. I am obsessed with her grain free cakes, brownies, cookies, all of it! The ability to be able to make these recipes at home and share them with my family is amazing. There are 5 core ingredients that Sweet Laurel uses as their foundation for all baked goods. They are simple, natural, accessible and recipes that I feel great about giving to my family. You will not miss the grains, dairy or refined sugar; you'll be fighting for crumbs.

Can’t say enough good things. This book has changed my allergic childrens’ life. Everything comes out perfec Lay and tastes incredible. If you’re looking for a book that allows you to bake for “civilians”, this is it. It is also worth noting that there are not 20 obscure ingredients in every recipe . these recipes are easy. Five or six ingredients, mostly. And, the ingredients are NORMAL items. 90% of the recipes start with almond flour, baking soda and salt and then build from there with a few ingredients like eggs, maple syrup and vanilla . If you buy one Paleo cookbook for dessert, this should be the one.

Laurel is my go-to resource when it comes to paleo baking (and baking in general). The recipes in this beautiful cookbook are easy to follow, completely refined sugar-free and most importantly, delicious beyond reason! My personal favorites are the chocolate brownies and chocolate cake, but I've never meet a sweet laurel recipe I didn't love.

Everything turns out really moist and dense due to the almond flour. I made the yellow birthday cake with chocolate icing and people couldn't handle how good it tasted. Also made the blueberry muffins and banana bread, my family loved both.

I was so excited to receive this cookbook based on the reviews. Sadly, I’ve made 2 recipes and both have gone straight into the garbage. The picture above is from the banana bread recipe. It tasted horrible, very greasy and the almond flour gave it a slightly sandy texture. It was disgusting. The second recipe I made was the pumpkin cake. As I was mixing together the ingredients the mixture was SO dry... I’m almost positive they accidentally left a liquid ingredient out (like coconut milk) regardless, it was not eatable!!!I’m not sure I want to try a third time with this book since I’ve wasted money on my ingredients and wasted my time. How can this book get the rave reviews?!FYI- I an experienced home chef and incredibly disappointed with Sweet Laurel
